The Information is Beautiful Awards has been celebrating excellence & beauty in data visualization, infographics, interactives &  information art since 2012. Every year, hundreds of visualizations are submitted to the Awards which are judged by a panel of experts & a public vote. The Awards are open to creators from across the spectrum — rising stars, students, individual practitioners, established studios, media brands, NGOs and more.

Participating in the Awards

How to submit your work

Data visualization creators and studios can submit their work for consideration across various Awards Categories. Select Special Awards will have options for you to nominate others for their leadership or designs, or will be selected from the submissions by a special panel of judges.

Submissions are currently closed. Check back again when they open in 2024.

Each year, the annual Information is Beautiful Awards Ceremony is a memorable celebration bringing together data visualization creators and enthusiasts from around the world. Our Awards Ceremony celebrates the amazing shortlisted entries from this year and attendees will be the first to celebrate the winners.

about the awards

The Information is Beautiful (IIB) Awards originated in 2012, led by David McCandless, journalist and data visualizer of Information is Beautiful, in collaboration with Aziz Cami, then Creative Director at Kantar.

For eight years, the IIB Awards celebrated beautiful visualizations from across sectors, developed in various platforms and physical spaces, including data art installations. The Awards also recognize exceptional studios and individual talent, including rising stars and students creating data visualizations. Reading through past winners, data visualization enthusiasts are likely to see many names and organizations whose work they admire.

Day of inspiration mini conference

The Day of Inspiration is a mini conference leading up to the IIB Awards Ceremony, featuring lightning talks from shortlisted creators. Hear from the leading voices and designers in data visualization and get a look behind the scenes of how shortlisted and award-winning works were created.
